Of course, it is logical that not all Hollywood celebrities were born in Los Angeles or the US. We know the Mexican Salma Hayek and the Spanish Penelope Cruz, but sometimes we think we know others too, only to find out that they were actually born not in England or Canada, but in completely different countries.
1. Russell Crowe was born in Wellington, New Zealand.
2. Amy Adams was born in Vicenza, Italy where her father, a military man, served. Amy's parents are American and she also has four brothers and two sisters. When the future actress was eight years old, the whole family moved to the United States.
3. Rihanna was born in Saint Michael, Barbados. Her whole family is from there, and many of her relatives still live there. Ri-ri moved away at the age of 16 to fulfill her dream of becoming a singer.
4. Mila Kunis was born in the city of Chernovtsy, Ukraine. Mila's family are Ukrainians who fled from their country when she was around seven years old to escape anti-Semitism in the Soviet Union.
5. Nina Dobrev was born in the city of Sofia, Bulgaria. Despite immigrating to Canada when she was only two years old, she still speaks Bulgarian fluently.
6. Natalie Portman was born in Jerusalem. Her grandparents on her father's side immigrated to Israel after surviving World War II. Actress's parents met in Jerusalem and stayed there until Natalie was three years old.
7. Kiyan Rivz was born in the city of Beirut, Lebanon, where his parents were working at the time. It is here that they met and began their relationship. The family stayed in Lebanon until Kiyan was around three years old.
8. Charlize Theron was born in Benoni, South Africa. Her parents owned a road construction company and a farm where Charlize grew up.
9. Nicole Kidman was born in Honolulu, Hawaii! Her Australian parents were there on a student visa, so Nicole has both American and Australian citizenship plus she has a Hawaiian name - Hokulani which means "Heavenly Star".
10. Sofia Vergara was born in the city of Barranquilla, Colombia. Her family moved to Miami in 1998, and she didn't become a US citizen until 2014.
11. Hoakin Phoenix was born in Puerto Rico. His mother came from a family of Jewish immigrants from Hungary and the Soviet Union, whose maiden name was Dunec; his father was an American from a Spanish-Irish family.
